* Over medium heat, melt butter. &lt;br /&gt;
* Add onions, carrots, and broccoli. Cook to soften, about 5 minutes&lt;br /&gt;

* Slowly add in broth, milk, and cream&lt;br /&gt;
* Add salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes&lt;br /&gt;
* Stir and heat over medium flame until thickened -- 10-15 minutes&lt;br /&gt;
